Following the 2006 Doha Asian Games, for which Tricon provided foodservice advice, this huge site is now being used for the ambitious Hamad Medical City. This world class medical campus, due for completion in 2010, will provide over 1,000 beds across 8 specialist hospitals, staff accommodation and recreational facilities where the aim is to offer hotel foodservice standards with a major focus on nutrition. Tricon is reviewing and re-designing the existing kitchens. The original designs had been based on a cook-chill preparation, a method of production no longer suitable for the hospitals’ high nutritional meals and regional trends of moving towards oven prepared dishes.
